B.C. Cafe

If you’re a fan of B.C. Tacos, the Fort Lauderdale food truck known for its popular “Gatherer” fried avocado taco, then make time for its sister restaurant B.C. Café. Owner Brett Chiavari opened the restaurant in a Davie strip mall in the spring of 2013, hoping to draw food truck regulars and new business to a more permanent location. The simple and prehistoric-themed restaurant (suggested hashtag: #GetYourCavemanOn) is the definition of a hidden gem.

The café branches out beyond its signature food truck tacos to include specialty burgers and sliders like “The Fred” – a melt-in-your-mouth braised beef short rib slider served with lettuce and shredded mozzarella cheese. The Café also serves up an avocado salsa that’s like a jazzed-up, creamier guacamole. If you’re lucky enough to dine on a day when the short rib quesadilla is the specialty, don’t pass it up. The cheesy concoction blends cheddar and mozzarella with sweet potato fries and short rib to create a sweet and savory dish. Talk about indulgence.
