At Coton Frais In Jupiter, Find Fresh Cotton Apparel With French Inspiration
Even if you don’t know a lick of French, you may still be able to decode the name of the boutique, with a large, real-cotton floral centerpiece displayed in the main entrance as a hint.
Coton Frais—French for fresh cotton—is the newest boutique to call Jupiter’s Fresh Market Village home and boasts an impressive 100-percent cotton collection of French-inspired blanc resort wear plus an array of accessories and gifts.
Coton Frais wouldn’t have been introduced without two important women. The first is Clarice Dowdle who has experience in marketing, production and luxury retail. The other is her daughter, Christina Dowdle, who earned a degree from Savannah College of Art and Design and focused her time on the business side of fashion. Together, they came up with a simple idea: design casual resort wear appropriate for everything from a day lounging in Florida to a getaway in Santorini or Nice.
Just about all of the apparel in the store is private label manufactured, so you won’t find the same piece with a purple label anywhere else. A sample rack in the back of the store offers new designs that are displayed for visitors to catch a glimpse of what will be sold in the upcoming weeks.
The all-white resort wear including stylish T-shirts, tanks, blouses, capris and denim is enough to stand out, but it’s the smaller touches that make this boutique extra special. Find treasures like jellies and sandals with Florida-inspired touches of seashells and starfish, to European-imported soaps and candles, Derby hats, one-of-a-kind Margot Townsend pearl jewelry, purses, French paintings and more.
The Dowdles agree that France is a favorite vacation destination, and Clarice Dowdle made sure to include an aspect of the country that is especially memorable for her. Bunches of lavender, fresh from Provence, are delicately wrapped and sold.
Growth for Coton Frais is just beginning, as there are plans to expand to six new retail spots, including locations in Boca Raton, Aventura and Naples. And it won’t stop there. The duo plans to work with Home Shopping Network and Amazon, and will offer e-commerce through its website.
But most importantly, the Dowdles have one goal: for everyone to stop in and chat about life, and buy products for every occasion while having fun. It’s all about the experience.
