Mexico City–born Kelly Rooney grew up living in different parts of the world with her family, which sparked in her an appreciation for the beautiful, unique goods she discovered throughout her travels. In 2018, her fascination with fashion and culture prompted her to launch Josephine Alexander Collective, a fashion and accessories line named for her three kids. “I started off wanting to showcase the beautiful artisan accessories I grew up with, and it quickly took on more meaning as I went forward,” says the Juno Beach resident. “As I was doing my buying, I saw how grateful the artisans were for my purchases, how proud they were of their work, and their eagerness to keep working with me.” The entrepreneur has since designed a carefully curated line of ethical accessories that are environmentally friendly and cruelty-free.

Recently, Rooney launched a pop-up inside The Gardens Mall, filled with colorful, handmade creations from places like Mexico and Peru. Stop by and peruse pieces including hand-embroidered floral Rosita masks; hand-painted, one-of-a-kind Carmen hats; and the Nicky bag, a collection staple handwoven by a man named Angel, whom Rooney met on the streets of Mexico City. Rooney’s gorgeous finds are also available at local boutiques such as Style So Chic in Palm Beach Gardens and The Very Good Stuff in Tequesta.
