Joyce Carol Oates Comes to Jupiter

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter will host a special speaker event featuring National Book Award-winning novelist, poet, playwright, and essayist Joyce Carol Oates November 18, from 4-5:30 p.m.

In “The Art and Craft of Her Writing: A Conversation with Joyce Carol Oates,” guests will have the opportunity to hear Oates speak about her life, publications, and inspirations, as well as participate in an interactive Q&A session. The conversation will be moderated by Rachel Luria, associate professor of Rhetoric and Composition and Acting Associate Dean of Student Affairs for the Honors College. A book signing will follow the program.

The accomplished American writer has penned bestselling novels, including Blonde, Them, The Falls, and We Were the Mulvaneys. She also written acclaimed collections of short fiction, as well as essays, plays, poetry, and a memoir. She is the Roger S. Berlind Distinguished Professor of the Humanities at Princeton University, and since 1978, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
