Curiosity nourishes the soul, but most of us left school days and textbooks behind long ago. Still, expanding your mind has no age limit—just ask the folks at Florida Atlantic University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Jupiter. The institute offers a variety of liberal arts–based lectures ranging from one-time classes to eight-week courses. This month’s topics range from “Secret Impressionists” (the story of the art revolution sparked by the Impressionist movement) on November 15 to “The Remarkable Story of the Indian Jews” (exploring the controversial origins and unique assimilation of the long-isolated Indian Jewish diaspora) on November 18. Other classes this month include discussions on partisanship in the United States, the origins of the tabloid press, and race and integration in sports.
