Lighthouse for the Blind formal attire drive, Pop UpScale boutique

Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches is accepting gently worn ladies and men’s gala fashions for their new event, the Lighthouse Pop “UpScale” Boutique, which will debut on Friday, September 24. The organization will accept gently worn gala and prom dresses; wedding, cocktail, luncheon, and semi-formal attire; and accessories like scarves, shoes, and handbags through August 13.

“This creative idea was inspired by the idea the Southern Dames of the Palm Beaches had to donate all of their formal attire to help dress guests for the 75th Anniversary Eye Ball coming in December of this year,” said Mary Allen, Director at the Lighthouse. “The ladies said their clothes were just too nice to give-away, so why not help Lighthouse? From there, the idea just took off, as often invitees to weddings, parties, and galas are looking for affordable formal wear.”

Participants can drop off clean, unstained, gently worn formal clothing items of all sizes to the Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches headquarters (5601 Corporate Way, Ste. 210, West Palm Beach) Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 pm. All donors will receive a tax donation receipt as items are tax deductible according to Federal Law.

Save the date for the Pop “UpScale” Boutique at the Lighthouse for the Blind on Friday, September 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the organization’s programs.  For more information on Lighthouse’s services and events or to make a financial donation, visit the website or call (561) 586-5600.
