Live Like Jake, the local foundation created in the memory of Jake Roarke Morrison, will host its ninth annual Live Like Jake 5K back in downtown Abacoa in Jupiter, April 29. Registration is now open online.

“We were so happy to have been at beautiful Riverbend Park these past two years while observing safety protocols,” said Live Like Jake founder Keri Morrison. “However, due to the popularity of the race, we are returning to our original location in Abacoa, which allows more runners and their families to participate in this life-saving event.”

The Live Like Jake 5K kicks off at 7:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 6:15 a.m. An awards ceremony will follow, featuring additional awards for the largest school, gym, and overall teams, alongside traditional finishing time categories. The event includes a kids’ zone with children’s activities and music provided by Supreme Events. The fun-filled day raises funds to provide scholarships for Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) self-rescue swim lessons. The first $10,000 of donations raised will be matched dollar for dollar by a donor. All donations received this year will provide children with critical care needs grants for treatments not covered by insurance.

Following the tragic drowning of their 2-year-old son, Keri Morrison and her husband, Roarke, created the Live Like Jake Foundation to raise awareness for childhood drowning prevention. The foundation partners with drowning prevention agencies and instructors, supports families who have experienced the same loss, and connects with the community. Since its inception, the foundation has provided thousands of ISR scholarships and recently celebrated its second year operating northern Palm Beach County’s only indoor, heated pool dedicated to teaching ISR self-rescue swim lessons year round.

Registration for the ninth annual Live Like Jake 5K is $40 and includes a high-performance race shirt, tank top, or hat; swag bag; and custom finisher medal. Discounts are available for first responders, military, swim instructors, and runners aged 18 and younger.
