Lucky Shuck Oyster Bar & Taphouse will host the fifth annual South Florida’s Shucking Best Oyster Eating Contest on August 8. The competition will be held in celebration of National Oyster Day (August 5). Oyster lovers can show their appreciation all month long with $1 oysters on Wednesdays at Lucky Shuck.

Participants will have 90 seconds to eat as many oysters as possible. A tray of 36 oysters will be served at the start of the contest, and additional oysters will be available should a participant finish their tray. Each oyster must be swallowed to be counted, and they must stay down to win. In case of a tie, the first person to finish an additional 12 oysters wins.

The winner will receive a $150 cash prize and a $200 gift card to use at any of the three venues at Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street. There are also prizes for second and third place, including a $150 and a $100 gift card, respectively. The number to beat is 103 oysters in 90 seconds.

Sign in begins at 4:30 p.m., and the contest kicks off at 5:30 p.m. The contest is limited to 25 participants, and registration is available online at luckyshuckjupiter.com/event/oyster-eating-contest-2025/.

The $20 registration fee will benefit the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum.
