Marlins, Cardinals Spring Training Games Get Underway At Roger Dean Stadium Feb. 25
Spring is in the air, and so is spring baseball.
The Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals will kick off spring training games at Roger Dean Stadium with their first game on Saturday, Feb. 25.
Over the course of the next month, the stadium will host opponent teams including the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, and both the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals, who are now also based in Palm Beach County for the spring.
(The Astros and Nationals are set to play their first game at the brand new Ballpark of the Palm Beaches on Feb. 28.)
New this season, Roger Dean stadium has added shade awnings to the upper level of the Reserved Box seats, covering most of sections 201-203 and 210-213 along the first and third baselines.
In addition, metal detectors have been installed as part of an MLB-mandated security update.
Single game tickets are available at rogerdeanstadium.com, with seating options ranging from the bleachers ($15-$20), Reserved Box ($29-$35), and Bullpen Club ($52-$64), which features tables and drink rail seating with an all-you-can-eat menu.
With five Major League Baseball teams now located on Florida's east coast, all within an hour's drive of each other, local sports and tourism officials anticipate a boost in Palm Beach County's spring training vacation scene.
Expect to see a sea of red in Abacoa this March, as Jupiter's Courtyard Marriott is already booked solid with Cardinals fans who'll be in town, according to General Manager Melanie Morejon, the Palm Beach Post reported.
For fans planning spring training trips or locals looking for a baseball-centric staycation, Jupiter Beach Resort is offering a "Play Ball" spring training package, which includes 10 percent off rates, daily breakfast for two, and a welcome amenity in the form of a box of Cracker Jacks, a baseball with a red Sharpie marker for autographs, and a beach ball.
