October marks National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, meaning organizations and communities around South Florida are coming together to promote awareness and raise funds for breast cancer research.

Susan Buzzi Photography Exhibit
Photographer Susan Buzzi, who has photographed hundreds of breast cancer survivors and is the author of two books: “I Am A Strong Woman” and “Courage, Strength & Triumph,” will exhibit photographs of breast cancer survivors at Gallery Six in the main Fort Lauderdale library from Oct. 2-21. This powerful exhibit includes photos of survivors from ages 25 to 100 years old, each accompanied by a personal statement.

Pink Tasting for Breast Cancer Awareness
Pop some bottles because the Florida Wine Academy is offering a pink tasting in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Oct. 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The tasting, which includes three rosé wines, water and small bites, is free of charge for breast cancer survivors and $39 for other guests. All proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Pink Panel Luncheon
Enjoy fabulous food and fashion on Oct. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Pink Panel Luncheon hosted by Bloomingdale’s. Learn about the latest trends in fashion from Bloomingdale’s personal shopper Godfrey Del Rio, and participate in the Pink Panel Q&A session with oncologists, survivors and intimacy specialists. This is an exclusive and free event. Reservations are required and donations are encouraged. Additionally, 10 percent of all Bloomingdale’s purchases on Oct. 4 will be donated to the Women’s Breast and Heart Initiative.

Round Up In Pink
Get ready to kick up some fun and give breast cancer the boot at Round Up Nightclub’s third annual Round Up in Pink event on Oct. 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. For a $20 donation, guests will receive access to dance lessons, an appetizer buffet, pink specialty cocktails, a dance team performance and more. All proceeds from the event benefit the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation.

22nd Annual Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure
On Oct. 14, thousands of runners and walkers will come together at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami to participate in one of South Florida’s largest breast cancer fundraising events. From 6 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., participants will celebrate survivors and honor loved ones lost at an event you can’t miss and certainly won’t forget.

Speak On Purpose Gala
TygaB for Breast Cancer is presenting its third annual Speak on Purpose charity gala on Oct. 15 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Brittania ‘Tyga’ Bryant is a breast cancer survivor who has made it her mission to spread awareness and assist people in the diagnosis and treatment process. For a $40 donation guests will enjoy dinner and performances by poets Elaina Whorley and friends, and violinists Sons of Mystro.

National Marine’s Yacht Bikers Poker Run
National Marine Suppliers will host its fifth annual Yacht Bikers Poker Run on Oct. 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. benefiting the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. Participants will ride more than 250 miles in one day for the cause, ending at The Tiki Bar in Clewiston for an after party, food, live music and prizes.
