Place of Hope, a faith-based nonprofit serving foster children of all ages throughout Palm Beach County, kicked off its 2015-2016 social season with Sips, Snacks & Shopping at Gretchen Scott Designs in Jupiter.

The eponymous owner of the boutique—a frequent donor to local charities—offered shoppers an evening of fine wine, tasty hors d’oeuvres and colorful couture. Fifty percent of sales made during the Oct. 8 event was allotted to the organization.

“Gretchen’s very generous,” store manager Kathy Williams said. “She likes to give back to the community.”

Gretchen Scott Designs is an annual supporter of Place of Hope’s Hope Bash, which is set for March 4 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.

A bountiful, beach-themed basket filled with accessories and clothing will go to the silent auction to help raise funds for the agency’s programs, which include emergency, transitional and long-term housing; family outreach and intervention; safety for victims of domestic abuse; maternity care; and residential-style foster facilities.

“It looks like a neighborhood,” says Williams, who has toured the campus on Isaiah Lane off Northlake Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens. “It’s all little family homes for these kids.”

Brochures explaining Place of Hope’s mission were available for shoppers to take home, and Advancement Associate Amyleigh Atwater was there to answer questions.

Atwater said the night’s proceeds will provide services to 230 abused and neglected children currently in the organization’s care.

“The event was incredible,” she said. “Our Hope Bash co-chairs Sue Ende and Jill Fried came and did some shopping.”

Fried thanked the management at Gretchen Scott Designs for making everyone feel welcome.

“Gretchen Scott’s Sip and Shop was a beautifully done event for an amazing cause,” Fried said. “They are a part of our community, and it was wonderful to see them care and give back.”
