When the executives at Del Frisco’s Grille decided to open its first Florida-based restaurant in Palm Beach, they knew it was a chance to add some spark to the island’s food scene. And that’s exactly what it has done since opening last September. With its emphasis on American comfort cuisine using local fare and paired with an extensive wine list, Del Frisco’s Grille has quickly become one of Palm Beach’s prime dining destinations.
The 8,000-square-foot restaurant is Texas-based Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group’s first venture into Florida. But don’t call this restaurant a chain. With twists and subtle adjustments to the menu, this location has embraced the chance to introduce a Palm Beach spin and added locally sourced ingredients to its already impressive menu.
Upscale comfort food
“If you had our crab cake, you will never feel the same way about crab cakes again. It’s really something special,” Executive Chef Anthony Fusco says. In tweaking this menu, Chef Fusco has taken the traditional viewpoint of American comfort and added his upscale imprint on it, with other bright dishes including the kale and Brussels sprout salad, and wild mushroom flatbread. Drink up The must-have drink is the VIP cocktail, a pineapple-infused, clementine vodka martini. “It’s a vacation in a drink,” Chef Fusco says.
With a bar that seats nearly 30 guests and overflows to nearby communal tables, it’s hard not to keep the conversation going – no matter how big or small your party is. With its smart spatial layout, the designers of the West Palm Beach-based Glidden Spina + Partners created an open, vibrant atmosphere that’s as stylish as it is conducive to conversations.
Elegant yet relaxed, casual but refined, this restaurant is an oxymoron of concepts all in one location. But somehow it makes sense. Dark wood furniture emanates without the usually accompanying white tablecloth, and beautiful artwork from local artists can be seen through the space. “We wanted to give our guests a nice option at an upper-middle-class price point,” says Alev Ersoy, Del Frisco’s Grille general manager.
