The new boutique

Village Bootery has been a top shoe shop in the area for decades, and late last year the store unveiled a new boutique within its current Tequesta shop. The new Boutique at Village Bootery specializes in high-end shoes for weddings, galas and even proms, ranging from flat, blingy sandals to stilettos.

What you’ll find

The new 300-square-foot boutique carries more than 100 styles of women’s dress shoes from brands like Stuart Weitzman, Ivanka Trump, VANELi, J.Reneé, David Tate, Your Party Shoes, Helen’s Heart, French Sole and Sacha London. Prices range from $60 to $400+.

A long history

The family-owned boutique has been open since the 1960s. Deb and Tom Schuemann are the current owners and are assisted by their family Ben, Lisa and Christopher. Many of the store’s customers have been shopping there for decades. “We know these people. … They’re third-generation customers,” Deb says.

The shop next door

Village Bootery owners were inspired by The Dress Collection, a neighboring boutique that sells gowns and formal dresses. They felt the two stores would complement each other perfectly. “It’s one small business supporting another small business,” Deb says.

Feel-good footwear

Village Bootery has a pedorthist on staff who works closely with customers to make modifications to the shoes so they are as comfortable as possible. “Our store has been a place where people can come and we give them the royal treatment,” Lisa says. “We want it to be a special time for them and they feel good about themselves.”

Something for everyone

A point of pride for the shop’s owners is that any woman can come into the shop and find what she’s looking for. “One thing that’s important to me is when the little grandmother comes in and she can’t wear the high heel, we want her to leave feeling special and beautiful also,” Lisa explains.
