Drivers and passerby of the Palm Beach Middle Bridge will see the structure lit up in pink the night of Jan. 11.
The bridge, which connects West Palm Beach and Palm Beach, will turn a shimmering pink in a symbol of support for hurricane victims as Susan G. Komen kicks off two weekends of events benefiting breast cancer programs.
This year, a program called The Promise Fund will be announced by the organization. The Susan G. Komen fund, in partnership with The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, cares for hurricane victims migrating to Florida from Puerto Rico and other areas.
Founder Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker and dignitaries will join at the corner of South Clematis and Flagler Drive after sunset to flip a switch to light the Palm Beach Middle Bridge in pink, which is the signature color of the fight against breast cancer. The lighting is sponsored by Ellen Levy.
After the illumination, Komen supporters will stand on the bridge each holding pink lights in a show of unity for hurricane victims relocating to Florida. The event is followed by the Annual Perfect Pink Party Gala fundraiser on Jan. 20.
The gala will be held on the MV Grand Celebration Cruise Ship provided by The Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, and will be held in port until 11 p.m. Guests may then opt to continue on the weekend cruise to the Bahamas, which will return the following Monday.
