Why Blessed Boutique Is South Florida’s Gift From Above

When you mix a fashion background with one in finance, a stunning boutique is sure to be the outcome. At Blessed Boutique at Downtown at the Gardens, shoppers will find a charming shop with attentive owners, personal stylists and a guaranteed enjoyable experience.

Melodie van der Baan and Samia Pedalino are friends and store co-owners. Wanting a change from her prior career as a wholesaler, van der Baan told Pedalino, a financial planner, that she wanted to open a boutique. “I was traveling over 30 weeks a year, and so it was pretty unfeasible to have a husband and baby with that kind of schedule,” van der Baan says. So she figured opening a retail store would allow for a stationary lifestyle.

The duo successfully opened a boutique at Downtown at the Gardens and quickly outgrew the original space, relocating in the plaza. Today, Blessed Boutique can be found near the plaza’s carousel. Elegant lavender signage and, hanging in the middle of the store, a glamorous chandelier are the tell-tale signs that you’ve arrived.

The Goods

The boutique’s name comes from the owners wanting women to feel blessed when inside. Expect to feel happy and confident after a successful day of perusing with van der Baan, Pedalino or one of the other stylists.

The shop carries American and European designers in sizes 0 to 16 for women of all ages and shapes. Find styles from designers like Weill, Byron Lars, Rosemunde, Ecru and DL1961 denim. Each item that is delivered to the store comes in only one of each size. “We don’t want you catching somebody else in what you’re wearing,” van der Baan says. “You want to be the only one looking fabulous at that event—even at the coffee shop. That’s why we keep it very exclusive.”

What’s a fashionista without her accessories? Blessed Boutique has that covered with its array of local jewelry designers including Suzy T Designs and Sea Lustre. There’s also a selection of handbags and shoes.

Personalized Shopping

Pedalino and van der Baan offer one-on-one styling sessions for women who might not have time to shop, and the boutique is also willing to work with all schedules.

“That’s why we do drop-off and pick-ups at houses, at offices. That’s why we take appointments. So that when they come in we’re ready for them. We have things pulled for them,” manager Kayla Kogan says. “We go above and beyond.” Blessed Boutique also offers complimentary alterations to ensure pieces fit each client perfectly.
