On Labor Day weekend, plan a trip to the Palm Beach Zoo, where kids ages 3 to 12 will receive free admission (normally $16.95). This offer is only valid when the child is accompanied by a paying adult (and is limited to six free child admissions per paying adult). In addition to regularly scheduled zoo programming, Noisy Neighbor DJs will be spinning music in the Fountain Plaza from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. from Sept. 1 to Sept. 3.

Brunch It Up In Downtown West Palm Beach

On Sept. 3, The Regional will host an old-fashioned Southern brunch created by James Beard semifinalist and Top Chef alum Lindsay Autry. On the menu? Cornmeal flapjacks, a broccoli and cheese frittata, the chef’s signature sweet tea-brined fried chicken and more. Brunch dishes range from $7 to $20, while brunch cocktails range from $11 per glass to $32 per pitcher. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., Pistache French Bistro will serve up French-style favorites like croque madame and eggs Norwegian paired with cocktail carafes ($10 per glass, or $30 per carafe). If you haven’t spent at least one Labor Day on Peanut Island, have you really celebrated Labor Day in Palm Beach County? Whether you arrive by water taxi or your own boat, pack a lunch and plan to spend a sun-soaked day in paradise. On the island you can camp, walk the circumference of the island, swim at guarded beaches, take in the view from the observation decks and more. Snorkel gear and beach accessories are a must. Peanut Island is an especially popular spot on holiday weekends, so prepare to face some serious crowds. The Peanut Island water taxi departs from the Riviera Beach Marina every 20 minutes between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Round trip fare is $10.
