In a digitally driven world, where romantic relationships commonly develop online, there is one woman whose company goes above and beyond.
Meet Kelly Leary: She has a dauntless personality, a positive outlook on life, and with no notice, an explosive guffaw.
Leary is a true believer in love, life and laughter. And although this sappy sentiment seems out of place in today’s pool of cynics, it’s a perfect fit for the upbeat owner of Revolution Dating.
A premier dating service in Palm Beach Gardens, Revolution Dating offers personalized matchmaking services, guidance and coaching for those who are looking for that special someone. And unlike other online dating services, where sometimes members can be misled, or find themselves in unsafe situations, Revolution Dating thoroughly pre-screens all of its members.
In fact, Leary’s company goes the extra mile for its clients. Every person who walks through its doors can expect a warm reception from Leary’s team, known as the Cupid’s Angels.
The colorful décor and uplifting messages draped all over the walls, such as “Love is Spoken Here,” elicit a feeling that anything is possible. There is even a dressing room in the Revolution Dating office, where professional makeup artists and photographers will take a member’s headshots for his or her profile.
For Leary, matchmaking is not just a business, it’s a cause. She has taken her passion – helping others find love – and turned it into a 23-year career.
“I love helping people, getting to know them, listening to them and hearing their stories,” she says.
As the daughter of parents who, as she says, were “educated hippies,” Leary grew up in a peaceful and loving environment. So, it makes sense that she tackles her role as a matchmaker with an exuberant tenacity. But this vocation, the one she seems destined for today, was not what she first set out to do.
In 1991, Leary graduated with honors from Lynn University with a master’s degree in clinical psychology, on her way to becoming a psychologist. At 21 years old, while enrolled in a doctoral program that concentrated on forensic psychology, she gained employment at a dating service in Boca Raton. After two years, she realized the matchmaking business made her happier than what she was doing in grad school.
“I was probably too sensitive,” Leary says. “I saw the difference between me and my peers. … They were really into the pathology and the problems, whereas I was more concerned with the patients.”
So Leary left the program, took what she learned about people through the study of psychology and redirected it into her newfound passion for matchmaking. And, she hasn’t looked back.
“Prognosis is much better here and it’s much more fun,” she says, laughing.
It does sound fun – Revolution Dating hosts a slew of high-end events that appeal to a variety of age groups. It’s also diligently planning its Valentine’s Day party to be held this month.
But should a member choose to not attend any of the parties, there are more intimate, one-on-one dates that can be arranged, as well. That is the beauty of Revolution Dating – every membership is custom tailored.
Leary beams with pride as she discusses her company, but when the topic of her love life comes up, she is politely reticent.
“I have been in love a few times. … And I am right now,” she says, closing the subject.
