Loggerhead Marinelife Center is expanding its free HallowMarine celebration to two days!
The fifth annual celebration will take place October 17 and 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The event will feature sustainable trick-or-treating, interactive displays, discovery shows, a junior vet lab, a costume competition, and visits with sea turtle patients.
The center will be transformed for Halloween with decorations made from sustainable materials provided by Resource Depot. Enjoy the spooky Haunted Seas, a family-friendly, interactive display inspired by a haunted house. Guests will walk through different levels of the ocean, encountering upcycled marine life displays, including jellyfish, a leatherback sea turtle, a coral reef, and a shipwreck. Along the way, they’ll discover how plastic pollution can be found throughout the ocean, from shallow reefs to the deep sea. Stop by the Brad & Joan Ingalls Amphitheater for a spooky, marine creature-themed discovery show. The 10- to 15-minute presentation will offer the opportunity to see and learn about sea creatures up close.
The festivities continue with the second annual HallowMarine costume contest and parade. Children are invited to show off their creativity and win across categories, including “Most Creative,” “Best Ocean Theme,” and “Most Sustainable Costume.”

In addition, the Unwrap the Waves initiative will return October 14 to November 14, encouraging students and the community to collect and recycle their candy wrappers, helping reduce holiday waste. During HallowMarine, guests can recycle their collected candy wrappers at designated boxes at the center.
Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s community partners help make the Unwrap the Waves initiative accessible, with collection boxes stationed at participating organizations, businesses, and community buildings. Individuals can drop off used candy wrappers at these boxes to be recycled.
