Rocco’s Tacos patrons should be on the lookout for owner Rocco Mangel—and his pink patent leather shoes—at the Palm Beach Gardens location this month. He’ll be pouring free tequila—all in the name of a good cause.
The festive fundraiser is part of the annual Tacos & Tatas Tuesday promotion, which lets customers order an unlimited number of tacos for $15.99 per person. The deal runs throughout October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This all-day deal kicking off Tuesday, Oct. 6, includes Rocco’s pulled chicken, slow-roasted pork, ground beef, skirt steak, mushroom, shrimp and mahi tacos, and a portion of the sales goes toward the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Drink specials also start at 7 p.m. with $5 tequila shots and cocktails, $3 Dos Equis amber and lager drafts, and $3 Sol bottles.
This year, Rocco’s is aiming to raise $50,000. The restaurant has already raised more than $100,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation since launching Tacos & Tatas Tuesdays in 2011.
In order to boost contributions, Mangel will go from restaurant to restaurant throughout the month and pour complimentary tequila for guests. While wearing custom-made pink shoes, he’ll encourage people to donate, and anyone who gives $25 or more will receive a free bottle of tequila to take home.
“People hand him like $100, $500—a lot of money gets raised that way as well,” a Rocco’s Tacos representative said, adding that a lot of Rocco’s fans turn out to donate, and all employees contribute as well as walk in the Komen Race for the Cure.
Mangel will do this all month long, not only on Tuesday nights, and customers can find out which Rocco’s locations he’ll be at by following the Facebook page.
Rocco’s will also be offering special edition pink bottles of Clase Azul Reposado tequila. The 1-liter bottles will be on sale for $150, and $50 of that will be donated to breast cancer research.
