Ireland U.S. Experience Entertainment will host the first-ever Jupiter Irish Fest at the Amphitheater in Downtown Abacoa on Saturday, March 13, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. to celebrate all-things Irish, featuring authentic food, drink, culture, entertainment, and live music. Dave McGovern, the festival’s director, moved to the United States from Dublin in 2001. “You see folks, I love this country, and I am always so grateful for everything it has given me in return, but my heart has also never left Ireland. I have wanted to do this for years, and decided that March 13, St. Patrick’s weekend, is the best time to celebrate the Irish culture and heritage. I will do my best to bring Ireland to Jupiter, Florida in a way people have not seen before. I look forward to seeing everyone there and having the Craic.” said McGovern.
Jupiter Irish Fest will include performances by Rogue Theory Band, Tracy Sands, Hugh O’Neill, Rod MacDonald, The Palm Beach County Firefighters Pipes and Drums, and the Tir Na Greine Irish Dancers. There will also be a hurling demonstration, and an Irish Costume Contest with prizes for adults and children. A complete schedule of events can be found here.
Guests will also sample traditional cuisine from two local Irish restaurants, McCarthy’s Pub and The Bistro, serving up authentic like shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage, fisherman’s pie, Irish pudding, and more. The culinary offerings will be complemented by fine Irish whiskey tastings and “pull-your-own” pints of Guinness, Harp, or Smithwick’s. The event’s Whiskey Tasting costs $9 and the Pull Your Own Pint costs $25.
At the event, Ireland U.S. Experience Entertainment will raffle off a trip for two guests to Ireland in support of the Southeast Florida Honor Flight, a local organization that flies local World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built to honor their service and sacrifices. Proceeds from a 50/50 cash raffle will benefit Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, an organization that provides emergency financial support to qualified disabled veterans living in Florida. Proceeds from a silent auction will benefit Firefighters to the Rescue, a nonprofit that raises money to help families of Firefighters, Law Enforcement, EMS Providers, and others during times of need.
Event Safety:
The open air event will adhere to Palm Beach County COVID-19 guidelines: masks are required for guests not actively eating or drinking; social distancing with be encouraged for patrons; plexiglass barriers will protect food servers; event staff and volunteers will complete health checks; staff will conduct frequent cleaning of high-touch areas; and guests will have access to hand-washing stations throughout the event.
