Personal Style

My personal style pairs feminine, tailored classics with funky and wild artistic pieces. I love wearing pieces with structure that complement a woman’s curves and pieces that are packed with personality. Pairing things in unusual combos is fun!

Summer Shopping List

I’ve been combing area thrift shops lately, looking for the perfect vintage Lilly Pulitzer dress—you know, the one that will have just the right combination of color, pattern, and of course exactly my size, surrounded by a halo of light! The Slim Aarons photos released recently captivated my heart.

Go-to Outfit

Amanda Perna headbands make everything look better, even wonky humidity hair. Add super wild sneakers, a Farm Rio dress or jumpsuit, a massive cocktail ring, and a crossbody bag and I feel happy and ready to tackle anything.

Beauty Must-Haves

A great dermatologist to check my skin twice a year—beauty that’s skin deep starts with confidence in my skin health. Dental floss and a Sonicare toothbrush have kept my teeth pearly white (and my dentist happy), despite how much I love black coffee and red wine. Extra-absorbent hair towels have been gold! They speed up drying and decrease damage.

Skin Care Faves

Weleda Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream is a little workhorse at an incredible price, delicate enough to work under the eyes and it works great under makeup. Vitamin C serum—right now, I’m loving Derma-E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum with Hyaluronic Acid & Probiotics. A mineral sunscreen is a must too. My dermatologist recommends Solbar Zinc Broad Spectrum, which absorbs pretty quickly.

Finding Inspiration

Where to begin? In my artwork, I believe everything from a radish to a street sign can be a source of inspiration, and it can tell a complicated story. Investigative journalist and friend Paula Woodward is a beacon of hope in the pursuit of truth, accuracy, and fairness. Storytellers of all kinds have taught me to lace heart and emotion into the power of words and pictures. I still refer to children’s books I loved as a child. My family members always go toward their interests with vigor and joy. And I meet new people every day whose stories move me.

Ultimate Day Off

I feel the hope of the world in those peaceful breezes and changing colors of sunrise at the beach. Then it’s breakfast at Surfside Diner in Palm Beach, followed by golf or the driving range at The Nest. It’s a fun design by my husband, who is a golf course architect. A quick driving tour of my favorite banyan trees, giant-scale objects, and public art before catching the latest exhibit at the Norton Museum of Art. Then I’m gathering up my nearest and dearest artist friends to play with something oddball and creative. I’d close out the day with my husband’s cooking or meeting friends at Leftovers, Hog Snappers, or Carmine’s in Jupiter.

Top Local Spots

Lighthouse ArtCenter has incredible classes, inspiring staff members, and gorgeous exhibits! The campus has grown to include new studio spaces and equipment recently, and you can take classes over a few hours or several weeks. Riverbend Park is such a beautiful step away from the hubbub, and you can spot Florida wildlife from the pathways and waterways. Such a peaceful way to get exercise! TGL is a brand-new golf league you can watch at home on ESPN or from the SoFi Center on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens. My husband was one of three golf course architects involved in the inaugural season. What a treasure to have this in our backyard!

Ritual to Unwind

Painting, painting, and more painting! Whenever I want to truly connect with who I am
and feel myself restored, I go back to creativity.
It’s meditation for me. Even brainstorming a painting helps me unwind. I’m also a huge fan of logic and brain puzzles, and I do most of The New York Times puzzles every day.
