When potential clients approach a BMO relationship manager, it’s often because their
financial strategy is disjointed. They may have an investment adviser, an accountant, and an attorney, but they don’t have a cohesive plan.
“Our commercial banking and wealth management teams work close together to put our clients in a position for success on both business and personal sides,” says Shawn Oden, BMO Commercial Banking’s managing director and market leader, South Florida. “Oftentimes, people approach us for a specific transaction, such as a credit request.

BMO holds events on the issues affecting clients. Recently, investment bankers explained trends in valuation multiples in mergers and acquisitions, followed by the wealth management team discussing how that could impact business succession plans and
family wealth.
“Business owners tend to be laser-focused on their day-to-day operations,” Oden says. “These gatherings can help attendees come away with a better sense of how their decisions can affect their future.”
