Break out of your shell this weekend, and head to Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s TurtleFest celebration.
The free event will take place Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Juno Beach facility and surrounding Loggerhead Park.
Perfect for adults and kids alike, TurtleFest 2016 will feature food, drinks, musical performances, arts, crafts, shopping, educational activities, a rock-climbing wall and, yes, some quality time with sea turtles.
This year, the festival will have a 40-foot slide onsite that offers views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Scared your kids are too young to enjoy the festivities? Worry not: Children 5 years old and younger can partake in special craft projects at the event’s “Grow Up Great Lagoon.”
Plus, keeping in line with Loggerhead’s message of conservation, the festival will feature a water station where guests can refill reusable bottles and stay hydrated throughout the day. There will also be a bike valet station that will ensure guests who pedal to the event will have a secure place to leave their bicycles.
Of course, no celebration is complete without entertainment. Musical performers include Mike Mineo, The Samantha Russell Band, EraSmith (an Aerosmith tribute band), artists from The Maltz Jupiter Theatre Conservatory of Performing Arts, and more.
Kicking off just a few short weeks after the start of sea turtle nesting season this year, TurtleFest attracts about 10,000 people for a day of fun in the sun. This year marks the 13th anniversary of the festival, and the event is expected to be the biggest yet.
