This popular and elegant home furnishings store recently opened its fourth Palm Beach County location in Jupiter.

The rare find

Walk into Excentricities and you know you’ve arrived. The store, known for its signature, sophisticated Florida style, is packed with items that complete a beach-inspired home, as well as pieces that make for the talking points of a room. Take, for example, the grand, wood-carved sofa that was sourced from an estate sale in Palm Beach. The cream couch is centered on the showroom floor with a price tag of $4,600, an ideal statement piece for an elegant family or living room. “Most people come here looking for something different, something that’s a bit more unusual,” Kary Clancy says. Clancy, who is the store manager at the Jupiter location, calls the Excentricities style “eclectic and casual elegance.”

The colors

The Jupiter store, compared to the three other Palm Beach County stores, trends toward a more “beachy” theme with lots of bright greens, blues and yellows, Clancy says. Colorful tables, chairs, rugs and accessories are accentuated against the store’s white walls and neutral seagrass floor rug. Excentricities carries colorful Dash & Albert indoor/outdoor rugs in chevron and striped patterns, Lucite tables, and fun outdoor furnishings like the David Francis Palm Chair – a white wicker chair shaped like a palm leaf with a bright green fabric cushion.

A work of art

The store is designed and curated like a work of art. Decadent chandeliers hang from the ceilings and vibrant paintings cover the store walls. Much of the artwork is made by local artists from Delray to Jupiter. Shoppers will recognize scenes of parrots and birds from the Palm Beach Gardens-based artist Carol McKinley, as well as turtle prints from the Jupiter-based artist Kelly Tracht. Representative of the store’s eclectic style, a large 9-by-7-foot sculpture made of dozens of metal rings partitions the room.

Expert advice

Excentricities also offers full design services, helping people select furniture, decorate a home, select colors and upholstery. At the back of the store, visitors will find racks of sample fabrics from Lee Industries and CR Laine. “Customers love to come here to get ideas,” Clancy says, who adds that interior designers often stop by the store to pick up items to complete a room.

Price

The furniture ranges from $300 to $5,000. Certain one-of-a-kind pieces may be priced higher. The store also carries more affordable gift items such as napkins, tablecloths, candles and jewelry.
