Garden City Cafe Chef Scott Guli Is Serving Up Nouveau Dishes At This Juno Beach Restaurant

When Scott Guli used to skip school as a child, he’d head to his father’s restaurant in Manhattan, New York. At just countertop height, he’d serve coffee and assist in whatever way possible. And after that small taste of the restaurant industry, Guli found his niche for culinary.

He and his family went on to open several restaurants across the U.S. before he moved to South Florida. Partnering with Carmine’s Gourmet Market in Palm Beach, he helped open up an additional 11 restaurants. But today, you can find the executive chef of Garden City Cafe in the kitchen—apron on, ready to whip up delicious masterpieces—at the restaurant’s location that recently moved from PGA Boulevard to Juno Beach’s Plaza La Mer.

Delicious Twist

Crunchy Grouper

Quality is the name of the game at Garden City Cafe. With local produce, hand-cut meats and fresh seafood delivered daily, the restaurant serves continental dishes with a nouveau flair. Start your dining experience by ordering the roasted chicken wings made with sauces that pack a punch with bold flavor, or try Joe’s famous pork ribs—a sentiment to Guli’s father. The ribs are slow roasted then glazed in an Asian BBQ sauce.

If you’re in the mood for a large plate, the eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti is a must. Guli breads the eggplant fresh, giving it a nice, crispy crunch. “Between [the eggplant] and the mozzarella and marinara, the eggplant Parmesan will melt in your mouth—it’s unbelievable,” he says.

Each dish on the menu showcases classic elements, but there’s always an added touch. Choose from homemade soups, flatbreads, build-your-own burgers with black Angus beef, to delicious entrées like the steak tidbits sandwich, made with New York steak and mozzarella, served open faced on a toasted garlic roll with Joe’s homemade dipping sauce.

Order breakfast any day during the week, or stop by for Sunday Brunch and order the crunchy french toast, egg battered and dipped in Cap’n Crunch and Corn Flakes cereal. Plus, enjoy a great collection of assorted domestic and imported beers, Hollywood Brewing Co. Stout and a wine list that offers organic options.

Added Touches

Soup Du Jour

While the food deserves all the attention, the decor also speaks to the overall theme. With funky furniture, teal and purple walls, and chevron accent pillows, Garden City Cafe offers a welcoming vibe for all. Local artists regularly switch out paintings (available for purchase) on the walls, and live entertainment is offered Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
