When the Uptown Art franchise dissolved earlier this year due to COVID—taking its logo, website, and 450 of its 700 paintings with it—Jupiter owner Kristen Perrett knew she had to get creative or face a shutdown herself. The private event room of the store had been sitting empty more often than not, so she decided to transform it into a place where painting outside the lines is the goal—and locals have quickly taken to the new splatter paint room at her shop, now called Uptown Paint and Sip.

The splatter room is affixed with black lights and blackout curtains, the walls are covered with tarps, and an Amazon Echo runs the sound-proof room. “I have a TV set up in the main studio for parents to come in, have an adult beverage, and watch their kids go crazy,” says Perrett. “I think the parents love not having to clean up the mess.” Uptown Paint and Sip is available for events, parties, and paint-splattered fun.
