It’s time to get serious about showbiz.
In August, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre will begin offering a two-year certificate professional training program for high school graduates and home-schooled seniors interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts. The curriculum will train young actors in theatre, musical theatre, film and television.
The program will be Florida’s only two-year professional training program affiliated with a professional regional theatre, a press release notes. South Florida and Broadway professionals will be among the faculty teaching classes in dance, music theory, Shakespeare, stage combat, piano fundamentals, classical clowning and more.
“We are offering an unsurpassed opportunity for students to gain the skills necessary to pursue a successful career in the performing arts,” Andrew Kato, the theatre’s producing artistic director, said. “The goal is to create working actors who are ready for the marketplace.”
Interested parties must audition, as enrollment is limited to eight to 12 students per class. Students will be enrolled in classes 35 hours a week.
Auditions will take place Saturday, June 20, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Maltz Jupiter Theatre. An appointment is required to audition.
