Mario Romano Capri Boutique Offers Handwoven Linens, Cashmere And A Taste Of The Italian Lifestyle

969

Handmade cashmere and linen come together in a boutique built from Italian heritage.

It started in the family, as many success stories do. This time around, the story begins with the Romanos, based in the town of Sant’Egidio del Monte Albino in Campania, Italy. Factory owner Mario Romano manufactured clothing for other brands, but it was his three children who decided the family should start its own company. The second-generation family business includes the Romano siblings, Marianna Romano, Angela Romano and Alberto Romano, who work as the brand’s head merchandiser, designer and manufacturer, respectively. Together, they opened the first Mario Romano Capri storefront in 2007.

Max Ricci, president and co-owner of the American shop locations, had visited Capri on two separate occasions with his family and noticed lines were always out the door to the boutique.

“I approached [Marianna] and said, ‘Would you ever be interested in doing something in America?” says Ricci, a third-generation textile worker who developed clothing brands. After an overwhelmingly positive response from the Romanos, that initial meeting essentially brought the brand to Palm Beach.

Quality Craftsmanship

The boutique features an array of  luxury men’s and women’s fashions with an emphasis on handwoven and handspun linens and cashmere, made specifically from the Romano family production facility. Each step of the production process is done in-house, blending tradition with state-of-the-art equipment to produce quality craftsmanship.

The Collection

“That’s Capri. It’s also Palm Beach,” Ricci says of the colors that pop against the store’s white backdrop. “When we first were looking for a place for the store we knew this would be the spot because people in Palm Beach are not afraid to wear color.”

And color is what shoppers will find—beautiful salmon, aquas and greens to simple creams and crisp whites. The resort wear collection ranges from classic pieces like polos, linen pants, skirts and dresses appropriate for a trip to the Amalfi Coast, to blazers, sweaters and cashmere ponchos ideal for a trip to Aspen, Colorado.

Shoppers can also find fun accessories like handmade jeweled sandals, linen scarves for both men and women, and Panama hats made in Ecuador to complete their look.
