The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival takes the stage at Jupiter’s Seabreeze Amphitheater in July with its newest Shakespeare by the Sea production: William Shakespeare’s Falstaff. Set beneath the stars at Carlin Park, the outdoor performance runs July 9–12 and 16–19, with the amphitheater once again transforming into one of South Florida’s most atmospheric stages. Performances begin at 8 p.m., but longtime attendees know to arrive early, claim a spot on the lawn, spread out a blanket, unpack a picnic, and settle in as the sun fades behind the dunes.
This year’s production shines the spotlight on Sir John Falstaff—Shakespeare’s famously larger-than-life scoundrel known for his sharp wit, oversize personality, appetite for trouble, and uncanny ability to talk his way out of it. Written by Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival artistic director Trent Stephens, the original adaptation pulls scenes from Henry IV, Henry V, and The Merry Wives of Windsor to trace the life and misadventures of one of literature’s most entertaining rogues. Expect tavern escapades, quick insults, narrow escapes, and plenty of laughter along the way.
Admission is free with a suggested $5 donation, making it one of summer’s best cultural outings under the stars. Bring low chairs, bug spray, and your sense of humor. Falstaff would approve.
