In honor of National Oyster Day, Lucky Shuck Oyster Bar & Taphouse will host hosting its sixth annual South Florida’s Shucking Best Oyster Eating Contest on August 5 at 5:30 p.m.
Contestants will have 90 seconds to eat as many oysters as possible. Each competitor will start with a tray of 36 oysters. Additional trays of oysters will be provided if they finish the first tray before time expires. Every oyster must be completely swallowed to count. Before a winner is declared, competitors must keep the oysters down for three minutes after the contest ends. If there’s a tie, competitors will go head-to-head, and the first person to finish an additional 12 oysters takes home the title.
The first place finisher will receive a $100 gift card to Lucky Shuck. The second place winner will receive a $50 gift card, while the third place winner will receive a swag bag featuring a hat, bracelet, and koozie.
Check-in begins at 4:30 p.m., with the competition starting at 5:30 p.m. Participation is limited to 20 contestants, and advance registration is available online at lovestreetjupiter.com/event/lucky-shucks-6th-annual-oyster-eating-contest/. The $25 entry fee benefits the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum.
The celebration continues all month long with $1.50 oysters every Wednesday, available open to close.
