Congrats are in order for one of Juno Beach’s most popular charities.
Nonprofit and turtle rehabilitation organization Loggerhead Marinelife Center has earned Charity Navigator’s highest rating of four stars for a third consecutive year.
Only 14 percent of charities considered by the independent evaluator achieve this feat.
The four-star designation from the organization—which evaluates more than 8,000 charities nationwide—denotes the nonprofit “exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause.”
The ratings help indicate to donors that they can trust their dollars are being used toward a center’s mission.
For those unfamiliar with the nonprofit, Loggerhead promotes the conservation of ocean ecosystems, with a focus on endangered and threatened sea turtles. As one of Palm Beach County’s top attractions, the center draws in more than 300,000 visitors annually.
While educating the local community is important, Loggerhead President and CEO Jack Lighton notes the organization’s efforts extend far beyond Juno Beach.
“Our [c]enter is also a research hub and is coordinating conservation programs with 16 partners across the globe in an effort to share knowledge and increase our conservation impact,” he said in a statement.
Loggerhead isn’t the only area charity to receive recognition from Charity Navigator as of late. Palm Beach Gardens-based nonprofit Place of Hope recently attained a perfect score of 100 for its financial health, and accountability and transparency. Only 51 out of 8,000 charities earned such a high mark.
