Lucky Shuck Oyster Bar & Taphouse will host its second annual South Florida’s Shucking Best Oyster-Eating Contest in celebration of National Oyster Day on August 5.
Participants will have 90 seconds to eat as many mollusks as they can. A tray of 36 oysters will be served at the start of the contest, and additional oysters will be available should a participant finish their tray. The oysters must be swallowed to be counted, and they must stay down to win. In the event of a tie, the first person to finish an additional 12 oysters will be the winner.
The first place winner will earn a $200 cash prize and a $150 gift card to any of the four venues at Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street. Second and third place will win a $150 and a $100 gift card, respectively. The number to beat in Jupiter is 62 oysters in 90 seconds.
South Florida’s Shucking Best Oyster Eating Contest is limited to 12 participants eager to flex their mussels. Register on Eventbrite. The contest’s $20 entry fee will benefit the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum. Sign in begins at 5:30 p.m. and the contest begins at 6:30 p.m.
