Big ideas in a small space
This charming, 1,300-square-foot luxury boutique packs a big punch, attracting locals and travelers to take a detour on their way to the spa or restaurant and step inside this chic spot. In January, retail management firm Seaside Luxe transformed and expanded the hotel’s 250-square-foot gift shop into a high-end luxury boutique that offers resort wear, evening wear, swimsuits, jewelry and more. The light fixtures, the furniture, and even the floor-length, fitting room vanity mirrors were hand-picked to reflect the “whimsy” of Palm Beach, Seaside Luxe Creative Director Eric Lopez says.
Something for everyone
Swell’s clothing and accessories offer something for everyone – men, women and children. The shelves are lined with Sail to Sable tunics, Havaianas flip-flops, Herschel totes and Ray-Ban sunglasses. Missoni candles and Lucy Billett beaded bracelets are easy travel-sized gifts guests can carry home. And travelers who forget sunscreen or toothpaste can find those essential items stored discreetly in a white-washed armoire near the check-out. “You know it’s there but it doesn’t have to be in your face,” Lopez says of the travel products.
Local love
Swell has a vintage, community feel on purpose, Lopez says. Locals can visit the store for pieces they can’t find anywhere else in Palm Beach, like collections from jewelry designers Jemma Sands and Anne Sisteron. Store manager Brenda Cuevas changes the items on display daily. “We want there to be something new to look at,” Cuevas says.
Featured designers
Inspired by nearby Worth Avenue, the boutique offers visitors a high-style shopping experience that includes designers Missoni, Diane von Furstenberg, rag & bone, Tory Burch and Lilly Pulitzer. Patrons looking for something with a bit more shine can peruse pieces from jeweler Kimberly McDonald, or those looking for a new statement purse can choose from a selection of Cornelia Guest handbags.
It’s a gallery, too
The store is working with a Palm Beach-based gallery to showcase and sell artwork from local artists in the boutique. Artwork will be featured on a six-month rotation and will add to the store’s sense of community, Lopez says. The “Dreamscapes” collection by artist Cheryl Maeder is the first to be displayed on Swell’s walls.
