The Wild Dolphin Project will host its signature fundraising event, the eighth annual Wild Ocean Science, at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre March 29, from 5 to 9 p.m.

This year’s featured presenter is Shane Gero, founder of the Dominica Sperm Whale Project, an innovative and integrative long-term behavioral study of sperm whales in the Eastern Caribbean. Gero documents the social and vocal behavior of more than 20 sperm whale units. Through thousands of hours of observation, he has come to know the whales as individuals, each with their own way of doing things, living together in the Caribbean Sea. As the Biology Lead for Project CETI, a non-profit organization and TED Audacious Project, Gero applies advanced machine learning and gentle robotics to decipher sperm whale communication. His research on sperm whale communication and culture serves as a cornerstone for the James Cameron-directed, Emmy-winning Disney+ documentary series, Secrets of the Whales.

Wild Ocean Science will be hosted by PBS NewsHour correspondent and journalist Miles O’Brien, and The Wild Dolphin Project founder Denise Herzing.

Guests attending the event will enjoy food, a cash bar, book signings with Herzing, a raffle, and more.

Tickets for Wild Ocean Science start at $50 per person and may be purchased here.
